IQS hosts BIET’23, the benchmark event for the bread sector and related industries

BIET has consolidated its role as a key event in the sector, with more than 25 speakers and a robust international character. The event, which will be held on 7 and 8 June at the IQS campus, will bring together professionals from baking and related industries.

Barcelona will once again host the BIET Meeting, a can’t-miss event for the bread, flour, frozen dough, industrial and artisanal processing, R&D centres, analysis laboratories, regulatory bodies, and other entities within the baking sector. This new edition is definitively returning to an in-person format and will take place on 7 and 8 June at the IQS campus. Manufacturers, users, researchers, and distributors of innovative technology and products will meet at BIET’23 to discuss the challenges and opportunities the sector faces.

The conference will feature 26 speakers with recognized international prestige and will offer an overview of the technological trends in the sector in Europe. Speakers include Jan Charles Hansen (International Flavors & Fragrances), Steven Anderson (Lalleman), Stefano Renzetti (Wageningen University & Research), Henrik Lundkist (Novozymes), Arturo Bonet (Hifood), and many others (a full list of the speakers can be found here).

The schedule includes scientific conferences and industrial workshops, distributed across 14 technical presentations and 10 workshops. The sessions will be held mainly in English and Spanish and will include a simultaneous interpretation service.

The BIET (European Meeting on Baking Ingredients, Enzymes and Technology) conference is organized every two years by the AIQS Alumni Food Professional Group with the purpose of offering the sector the opportunity to support the state of the art in baking and related industries in Europe.

The first edition took place in 2007, although its origins date back to the 1980s. Since its inception in this new present era, BIET has overcome economic crises and the passage of time, becoming a benchmark event for the bakery sector and related industries not only in Spain, but increasingly around the world with the presence and participation of professionals and researchers from other countries.

BIET relies on a large group of sponsor and partner companies. Its premium sponsors include IFF, Puratos, Zeelandia, Lallemand, AIT Ingredients, and Kerry. Other sponsors include Eurogerm, BASF, Molina, Hifood, Novozymes, Tecnosa, and Ireks. Finally, partners include Agriflex, Limagrain, Pan de calidad, Palsgaard, IQS, and Alifarma.
