The opportunities and challenges of Chemical Recycling of plastic materials

Couldn’t attend the conference Chemical Recycling: Status of an Incipient Business?

Now you can retrieve the full video of the conference organised by AIQS Alumni and Centro Español de Plásticos – CEP, where we have learned more about the opportunities and challenges of the chemical recycling of plastic materials:

Chemical recycling processes allow the conversion of plastic waste by transforming its chemical structure, offering a solution for those wastes that are mixed and/or composed of several materials, i.e. for those that cannot be recycled mechanically. It should also be noted that the quality of the material obtained after chemical recycling is comparable to that of virgin materials.

However, it is the sustainability objectives of the European Union and its commitment to a Circular Economy model that is currently giving a boost to chemical recycling, a technology that will increase recycling rates in the EU and at the same time contribute to reducing carbon emissions by avoiding the incineration of plastic waste.
